What cookies are#
What this means: tiny files a site stores in your browser so it can remember things between page loads.
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. When you come back, the browser sends the cookie back, so the site can recognise your session, remember a preference, or measure how the page is used. Similar technologies such as local storage and pixels do comparable jobs, and this policy covers them too.
Cookies cannot read other files on your device, run programs, or carry viruses. On their own they identify a browser, not a named person.
Why we use them#
What this means: to keep you signed in, keep the site secure, remember your choices, and understand what works.
The MiTax marketing website is deliberately light. We use cookies for four purposes only: to keep the site secure and working, to remember your cookie choice, to remember small preferences, and, if you allow it, to measure anonymous usage so we can improve the pages. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles or to sell data.
The cookies we use#
What this means: two kinds. Strictly necessary ones always run. Analytics ones only run if you say yes.
Strictly necessary storage (always on)
These make the site work and keep it safe. They cannot be switched off through the banner, because the site would break without them. They store no marketing data.

Analytics (only with consent)
These help us count visits and see which pages are useful, in aggregate. They run only after you accept analytics on the banner. Our analytics loader starts in a consent-denied state by default and stays off until you opt in.

Honest note. Analytics is wired but dormant until the owner sets real measurement IDs. Until then, no analytics cookies are written even if you accept. We would rather under-track than quietly track.
The consent banner#
What this means: the banner is real. “Decline” genuinely turns analytics off.
On your first visit you may see a short banner explaining that we use strictly necessary cookies and, optionally, analytics. You can Accept analytics or Decline it. Strictly necessary cookies run either way, because the site needs them.
We treat declining as the privacy-preserving default. If you close the banner without choosing, we do not load analytics or retain the interactions that happened before consent. Your choice is stored in the browser’s local storage under mitax_consent so we do not nag you on every page.
You can change your mind at any time by clearing MiTax site data, including the mitax_consent local-storage entry (see below), or by using any “Cookie settings” control we provide, which reopens the banner.
How to decline or delete#
What this means: use the banner, or your browser settings. Both work.
The simplest way to refuse analytics is to press Decline on the banner. Beyond that, every major browser lets you block or delete cookies:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
- Safari: Settings → Safari → Advanced → Block All Cookies, or Clear History and Website Data.
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies.
You can also use your browser’s private or incognito mode, which discards cookies when you close the window. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site working, but it will not stop you reading the pages.
Third parties#
What this means: we keep third-party cookies to a minimum, and only load them when needed.
Fonts are served from Google Fonts. If you accept analytics, Google Analytics is loaded. Payment pages inside the app are served by the appointed licensed payment provider shown for the transaction, which may set its own cookies under its policy. We do not embed advertising networks, social trackers, or session-replay tools on this website.
The mobile app#
What this means: the app uses secure storage, not web cookies, to keep you signed in.
The MiTax mobile app does not use browser cookies. It stores an authentication token in the device’s secure storage so you stay signed in, and local data to make the app fast offline. How the app handles personal data is covered by the Privacy Policy and the NDPA Compliance Statement.
Changes#
What this means: if the cookies we use change, we update this page and the date at the top.
We may update this policy when we add or remove a cookie, change a provider, or adjust how consent works. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. Material changes to how we use analytics will also refresh the banner so you can choose again.
